Tuolla Mandrivan wikistä löytyy useita tapoja, jotka eivät tarvitse cd-asemaa:

(ja näitä saisi suomennella tuonne http://wiki.mandriva.com/fi/ puolelle myöskin, jos jollakin sellaiseen riittää aikaa)

Jos sinulla kerran on Debian koneella, paras tapa lienee , eli ladata peilipalvelimelta all.rdz ja vmlinuz -tiedostot, ja lisätä ne liloon tai grubiin, kumpi debianissasi onkaan käytössä, ja sitten käynnistää kone valiten boottivalikosta Mandrivan asennuksen.

Eli onnistuuko 2008 asennnus suoraan kovalevyltä tai usb-tikulta? läppärissä cd-asema rikki joten normaali asennus ei onnistu. Käyttiksenä tällä hetkellä debian ja haluaisin vaihtaa siihenkin mandrivan. Kone on kuiten senverran vanha ettei boottauksen yhteydessä voi valita usb-boottia.
